Mostly History
by Rachel Herschbein
My Story:
I'm Rachel, and I graduated from Boston College in May of 2026. Yay! I majored in History and English, and also completed a History honors thesis in my senior year,
It is called " A Trip to Bath Spa: Health Culture and Public Spectacle" ( + you can read it here. )
I will be continuing my education at BC and pursuing my MA in History, studying Early Modern Britain.
I am also wildly passionate about libraries, and was lucky to work at the Burns Library Archive during undergrad and write a few posts for their blog.
I created a website dedicated to the history of the Burns's Liturgy & Life Collection, a massive archive of pre-Vatican II Catholic artifacts. You can explore it here.

My Mission:
A website is my way of sharing my current projects, imaginative endeavors, or passing commentaries on the history and literature I already interact with.
I believe that everything has the potential to inspire, and hope that with this blog,
I can keep a diverse innate curiosity alive.
I am constantly trying to learn, and I also want to pursue a PhD in British History, including long-18th-century literature, a genre which infinitely fascinates me.
As I progress further within the field of History, I intend to maintain and incorporate my English interests as well, putting primary sources in conversation with fiction literature.
I also love music and physical media; there is nothing better to me than a good book, a cold beverage, a record player on, and a comfy armchair to sit. As you might expect, Goodreads knows me very well. Connect with me!
Publishing is such a major component of work in academia. From my time in undergrad, I have a few publications which you can access by clicking the logos.
Oracle: The History Journal of Boston College published my piece, "'It is a Female Marriage!' Lesbian Relationships in Victorian England" in Volume 7.1 - 2024.
The Medical Humanities Journal of Boston College published my short essay, "Taking the Waters: Georgian Medicine in Bath, England" in Volume 10.2 - 2025.
I also enjoy writing creatively, and was on the executive board of the Stylus Literary Arts Magazine of Boston College all four years. My poetry, prose, and art pieces appear in issues from Spring 2023-Spring 2026.
